Purse is such an accessory that every both man and women are considering it as a necessity. No doubt a purse has a lot more significance and importance than its function. You will not only carry the money but also you may keep many other items around in it. Anyhow as a fashion accessory, purse can speak measure the personality of a person also.
As you know, a purse is a small and fashionably designed bag generally holds money, keys, makeup and other items of daily use. Popularly purses are also known as handbags, but a handbag is somehow greater in size than purse. Since many centuries, purses have been an essential fashion accessory. Particularly ancient Egyptians and Babylonians were the inventor of the first purses in form of small pouches which were used by them during religious ceremonies. Then the purses were fixed firmly to the waist with the help of girdles in the 14th century. Anyhow history shows that purses were also used as status symbols during those days. Later purses came in more sensible design and material like leather and cotton were during the 16th and 17th century. Even the purses were designed with drawstring fasteners on the top to keep the contents safe. In the 17th century, Embroidery became a craze was used to decorate purses which gave a beautiful and unique touch to these pieces. Reticule is the greatest achievement in the development of purses, which was an accessory, made of netting or lightweight fabric and had no handle, usually closed with a drawstring, carried by women in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. These miniature purses were further developed and reformed into today’s chic purses as ‘clutch’ purses. As the purse demand is going on, several famous companies are there producing purses in a dazzling array of designs and styles. This brings the purse industry to a multi-million dollar business. Today, purses vary not only based on their design, but also on the material used in their manufacture. From myriad colors and embroidery to sequins and diamonds, purses have come a long way and have added a substantial style quotient to our lives.
